The Jimi Hendrix Autograph Experience

Hendrix was named as 1968 Performer of the Year for 1968 by Rolling Stone magazine. Just one year earlier Melody Maker magazine described Hendrix as the World's Top Performer. Hendrix was one of the most influential rock and roll musicians.

The Jimi Hendrix Experience started in London, England, where Hendrix joined forces with drummer Mitch Mitchell and bassist Noel Redding. The Jimi Hendrix Experience became a popular band in England. However, their popularity soared when they toured the United States.

Hendrix recorded music in several major studies in America and England. The Olympic Studios in London was the site where Hendrix recorded "Spanish Castle Music." Hendrix visited a record store in London where he wrote a check for fifteen pounds and fifteen shillings. One day later, Hendrix began recording the Bob Dylan's legendary hit "All Along the Watchtower." His check to One Stop Records is the only check signed by Hendrix that is known to exist. His autograph and writing on the check is a magnificent example of his signature and handwriting.

Within a few weeks after writing his check to the London record store, Hendrix began a concert tour that would take him to 60 cities in 66 days. In July of 1969, Hendrix signed a contract to appear at the Woodstock festival in upstate New York. Hendrix agreed to a fee of $18,000. Hendrix used a portion of his earnings to buy a brand new 1969 Corvette Stingray. He also contemplated purchasing a home in Topanga, California, then a hot residential location for hippies and rock-and-roll musicians.

On January 13, 1969, Hendrix signed autographs at gave an interview at Studio Dumond in Colgne, Germany. Most of his autographs were on photos and record albums brought to the studio by his many fans. Although Hendrix was a left handed guitar player, Hendrix signed autographs with his right hand.

Genuine material autographed by Hendrix continues to escalate in value. Slips of paper with his autograph can be obtained for several thousand dollars. There are occasional album covers with the autographs of members of the Jimi Hendrix Experience that are offered for well over $5,000. Even though Hendrix died in 1970, his autograph is extremely popular.
